The Highfield Level 2 Award in the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) is a nationally recognised qualification designed to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding required to work safely with hazardous substances in the workplace. The course is aimed at employees, supervisors and individuals who may encounter or handle substances that could pose risks to health, helping them understand their responsibilities and the importance of maintaining a safe working environment. Many workplaces use or store substances that can be harmful if not handled correctly. These may include chemicals, cleaning products, dust, fumes, gases, vapours, biological agents and other hazardous materials. Improper use or exposure can lead to health problems such as skin irritation, respiratory issues, burns, long-term illnesses and other serious risks. This qualification helps learners recognise these hazards and understand how risks can be controlled effectively. Throughout the course, learners will gain an understanding of COSHH regulations and why they are important in protecting employees and others from exposure to hazardous substances.
