The Highfield Level 2 Award in Introduction to First Aid for Mental Health is a nationally recognised qualification designed to provide learners with an understanding of mental health, common mental health conditions and the principles of providing initial support to individuals who may be experiencing mental health challenges. The course is suitable for employees, supervisors, team leaders and individuals across all sectors who want to improve their awareness and understanding of mental health and develop the confidence to support others appropriately. Mental health is just as important as physical health and can affect how people think, feel and behave in everyday life and within the workplace. Poor mental health can impact individuals in different ways and may affect relationships, performance and overall wellbeing. Increasing awareness and understanding can help create supportive environments and reduce stigma surrounding mental health issues. Throughout the qualification, learners will gain an understanding of common mental health conditions and the factors that can influence a person's wellbeing. The course introduces the role of a mental health first aider and explains how individuals can recognise possible signs that someone may be struggling and provide appropriate initial support while encouraging professional help where necessary.
